Treat the Assistant as a colleague who has access to vast information but needs your guidance to apply it correctly. The Assistant doesn't know your matter, client, or jurisdiction unless you provide that information.
The quality of output depends directly on the quality of input. Provide the context the Assistant needs:
Direct the Assistant toward the specific doctrine, provision, or framework you're analyzing. Your professional judgment should guide how the AI approaches the task.
❌ Generic: "What are the issues in this contract dispute?"
✅ Specific: "What are the arguments regarding force majeure clauses in this contract dispute under English law? Analyze using IRAC, considering both arguments for and against invocation."
Specify the legal framework, required depth of analysis, and desired output format. This channels the Assistant's capabilities toward the precise area where you need assistance.
Provide examples of what you want rather than relying on abstract descriptions:
❌ "Draft an NDA"
✅ "Draft an NDA using our standard template [attached]. Follow the same structure but adapt the definition of Confidential Information to cover technical specifications and source code."
Spend 5-10 seconds adding detail to your prompt rather than getting a quick answer to something you didn't clarify properly. A well-framed question saves multiple rounds of clarification.

GOAL:
The Assistant integrated with your Library knows your law — your jurisdiction's specific statutes, your firm's approved templates, your past successful arguments, and your unique requirements.
When you connect your Library or use the Library Picker, you unlock the full power of your organization's institutional knowledge. The Assistant can draft using your actual templates, cite your prior successful arguments, and apply your firm's established approaches to new matters.
Legal Research:
Under German law (BGB), what are the requirements for a valid termination of an employment contract for operational reasons (betriebsbedingte Kündigung)? Our client is terminating 15 employees due to restructuring. Include case law on social selection criteria and consultation requirements.
Contract Drafting:
Draft a data processing addendum for our SaaS customer agreement. Use our standard DPA template [from library] but adapt for a healthcare client processing patient appointment data. The processor is based in Ireland, customers are in Germany. Include GDPR Article 28 requirements and reference our standard security measures schedule.
Document Review:
Review this vendor MSA [attached] from our perspective as the customer. We're a UK financial services company subject to FCA regulation. Flag: data processing and subprocessor terms, liability caps and exclusions, audit and inspection rights, termination provisions and data return, any terms that deviate from our commercial playbook [from library]
Follow-Up Questions
The Assistant maintains context within a conversation. Use follow-ups to refine and build on previous answers:
Initial: "What are valid mechanisms for EU-US data transfers under GDPR?"
Follow-up: "What are the practical implementation steps for SCCs with a US cloud provider?"
Follow-up: "Draft the processor agreement clauses for this scenario."
