How to Use Translate

3.1 Select Language

Choose the target language for your translation, or use automatic detection for the source language.

‍

Language selection:

Detect (?): The tool automatically detects the source language of your text or document

Manual selection: Choose a specific target language from the dropdown menu (e.g., English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese, etc.)

‍

When to use Detect:

You're uncertain of the source language

Document contains multiple languages and you want the primary one identified

Quick translations where language is obvious from context

‍

When to select manually:

You know exactly which language you need

Translating to a specific language for a particular audience

Working with less common languages where detection may be uncertain

‍

3.2 Select Translation Mode

Choose between Standard and Annotated translation modes based on your needs.

‍

Standard legal translation:

Best for: Longer documents requiring efficient and contextually aware legal translation

Focus: Translating the full document while preserving legal meaning and terminology

Output: Clean, readable translation maintaining document structure

Use when: You need to understand the full content of contracts, judgments, regulations, or correspondence

‍

Annotated legal translation:

Best for: Shorter extracts requiring annotated legal terminology explanations that preserve cross-jurisdictional context

Focus: Translating specific provisions with detailed explanations of legal terms

Output: Translation with annotations explaining technical legal terminology, especially terms that don't have direct equivalents or require jurisdictional context

Use when: You need to understand specific clauses, key provisions, or technical terms that may have different meanings across legal systems

‍

When to use each mode:

Examples:

‍

Standard translation:

Translate a 30-page German supply agreement

Translate a French court judgment (full text)

Translate Spanish regulatory guidance document

Translate Italian email correspondence thread

‍

Annotated translation:

Translate Article 1134 of the French Civil Code on binding force of contracts, with explanation of "force obligatoire"

Translate the "Vertragsstrafe" (contractual penalty) clause from this German contract with terminology notes

Translate this Chinese "不可抗力" (force majeure) provision with cross-jurisdictional context

Translate key data processing terms from this Dutch DPA with GDPR terminology explanations

‍

‍

3.3 Provide Text or Upload File

‍

Text input:

Switch to the "Text" tab and paste the content you want to translate.

‍

Use text input when:

Translating specific passages, clauses, or excerpts

Working with email content or correspondence

Quick translations of shorter content

You want to translate only selected portions of a longer document

‍

File upload:

Switch to the "File" tab and upload your document.

‍

Supported formats:

PDF

DOCX

TXT

‍

File size limit: Up to 50MB per document

‍

Use file upload when:

Translating complete documents

Working with formatted legal documents where structure matters

Translating scanned documents (OCR supported)
